The Police Commissioner of Karimnagar, L Subbarayadu, has opened new special rooms for patients at the Rekurthi Lions Eye Hospital. He praised the hospital for its free eye care services over the past 35 years, and for its skilled and dedicated staff. The hospital has performed over 160,000 cataract operations and is known for its glaucoma and squint correction treatments. The Commissioner was impressed with the hospital’s state-of-the-art electronic equipment and modern medical facilities not found in other hospitals in the area.
He commended the hospital’s work in performing an average of 1,200 eye operations per month, providing free eye examinations for government school students and offering free transportation to patients who need cataract operations. The Commissioner pledged the support of the Karimnagar Police to assist the hospital in any way possible.
