    Former YCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was arrested by the Palnadu police on Wednesday. This arrest comes after the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea for offenses committed during the elections. He was taken into custody at Narasaraopet and brought to the district SP Mallika Garg’s office.

    On the polling day on May 13, Pinnelli caused trouble in the Macharla constituency. An EVM was damaged at a polling station in Palvaigate of Rentachintala mandal. He also threatened a woman named Cherukuri Nagashiromani. The Rentachintala police registered a case against him under sections 506 and 509 of the IPC.

    Pinnelli allegedly attacked a TDP agent named Namburi Seshagiri Rao when he tried to stop them from destroying the EVM. The MLA and 15 others were booked under various sections of the IPC. Seshagiri Rao accused Pinnelli of instigating YSRCP cadres to harm him.

    On May 14, Pinnelli and his supporters caused chaos in Karampudi by attacking TDP supporters and causing damage. During this incident, CI Narayanaswamy was injured while trying to intervene. A case was registered against Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and Pinnelli Venkatrami Reddy based on a complaint by the VRO.

    Pinnelli had gone into hiding to avoid arrest in connection with these cases but then filed a bail petition in the High Court. The High Court had granted him interim relief from arrest until June 4.
