The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, visited the Golconda Fort and Qutb Shahi Tombs in Hyderabad. The US government is giving $250,000 to help restore six tombs from the 18thand 19thcenturies. On social media, Ambassador Garcetti said he enjoyed visiting the tombs and was amazed by the architecture. He also visited Charminar and the Paigah Tombs on Saturday. While at Charminar, he tried Hyderabad’s Irani Chai and liked it. He also went to the Chowmahalla Palace, where the Nizam of Hyderabad State used to live. Ambassador Garcetti was named the 26thUS ambassador to India by President DroupadiMurmu on May 11, 2023. He was a mayor in Los Angeles before becoming an ambassador.
