A new program called T-SAFE App was introduced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad. This app is designed to track women’s travels for their safety and is the first of its kind in the country by Telangana Police. The goal of the app is to make travel safer for women, children, and other vulnerable groups in the State.
To use the T-SAFE service, people can call 100 or 112 and select the new number ‘8’ in the IVR option. After making the call, citizens will receive an automatic link that they can use to access the service through the T-SAFE website or Travel Safe App, which is available on the Google Play Store.
The T-SAFE App will play a significant role in empowering women. The Chief Minister praised Telangana police for their efforts in making the state safer for women and children. When using the service, citizens will receive automated alerts on the app or by call at regular intervals. If these alerts are not responded to properly, prompt police response will be initiated.
Reddy emphasized that T-SAFE is not just an app but a service that can be accessed without needing a smartphone or app download. Even with a basic phone, women can avail of the T-SAFE service by dialing 100 and choosing option 8 in IVR for ride monitoring by the T-SAFE team.
This service is unique in the country as it enables emergency police response proactively through automation, without requiring citizens to press any buttons or dial 100 again. In emergencies, the technology can also send a live tracking link to police patrol vehicles. The current fleet of emergency response vehicles includes 791 patrol cars and 1,085 Blue Colts.
In the future, T-SAFE will be integrated with other applications of cab aggregators and private transport services to enhance women’s safety. The announcement was made by the women’s safety wing as part of their future development plans.
Ministers and top officials, including Chief Secretary A Shanthi Kumari, Director-General of Police Ravi Gupta, and others, attended the launch of the T-SAFE App in Hyderabad.
