The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the voting time for the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana until 6 pm. This decision came after requests from major political parties like Congress, BJP, and BRS.

All 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state will now have polling hours from 7 am to 6 pm, including those affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE). The State Election Authorities received requests from political parties due to the heatwave in the state, and forwarded them to the ECI.

Political parties believe that extending the polling hours will encourage more voter participation, especially for those who can only visit polling centers in the evening. This change is expected to make it easier for more people to cast their votes.
