    The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed Harish Kumar Gupta as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh. Gupta, a 1992 batch IPS officer, will take charge immediately according to the orders received by the Chief Secretary of the state government.

    The ECI has directed that a compliance report be submitted by 5 pm on Monday regarding Gupta’s appointment as DGP. This move comes as part of the Commission’s efforts to ensure smooth functioning of law enforcement in Andhra Pradesh.
