It has been informed that fortified ragi java is being used for this purpose. The Director of School Education Department, Sri Devasena, has issued instructions to the District Education Officers (DEOs) on Thursday, suggesting that the distribution of ragi java should start from the 20th of this month and be made available in all 28,606 schools in the state by 1st July.

It has been decided to take action to provide ragi java to five students in each district on the 20th of this month. It was ordered by the DEOs to procure ragi java and wheat flour separately, and to distribute them to the schools from the districts. Each student will be provided with 10 grams of ragi powder and 10 grams of jaggery for three days to make ragi java. Boiled eggs will be distributed on alternate days along with the provision of ragi java. This meal is being prepared by the mid-day meal cooks with the help of kitchen assistants.
