The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of disrespecting Hinduism by turning Shivlings into fountains. Durgesh Pathak, a senior AAP leader, claimed that creating fountains in the shape of Shivlings in Delhi hurts the sentiments of Hindus. These fountains have been created in the NDMC area, which is under the Central Government. The BJP’s official Twitter handle even congratulated the Prime Minister for this, which has angered devotees as dirty water falls on the Shivlings instead of clean and pure water.
The AAP is demanding the removal of LG Vinay Kumar Saxena for insulting the Hindu religion and an apology from the BJP. Nitin Tyagi, an AAP leader, criticized the LG for showing disrespect towards Shivlings and making fun of Sanatan Dharma. Pathak held a press conference where he mentioned that they have received calls from people across the country questioning the actions of the Prime Minister and the BJP in Delhi. Citizens are eagerly watching the G-20 event, but Shiva devotees and Hindus are upset with how the BJP is treating their sacred symbols.
Pathak also highlighted that the process of building Shivlings involves consecration of life and clean water is typically offered to them. However, dirty water being poured on the Shivlings is adding insult to injury for devotees. Tyagi further criticized the LG for wearing shoes and pointing fingers at Shivlings, calling out their hypocrisy. He questioned whether the BJP, who recently promoted a film that disrespected revered gods, aims to instill such values in children and lacks respect for religion.
