Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Narcotic Bureau (TGANB), in collaboration with the Nampally police, arrested a drug peddler named Shaik Amer, also known as Waseem Khan Habeeb, aged 31. During the arrest, the police seized 320 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 6 lakh, along with four mobile phones. Two other suspects, Mohammed Salim Abdul Hamid Shaikh and Rayees Riyaz Shaikh from Mumbai, are currently on the run.

According to the TGANB, Shaik Amer became addicted to drugs in Hyderabad and initially purchased them for personal use. Over time, he noticed a growing demand for MDMA among drug users in the city. Seeing an opportunity to make quick money, he devised a plan to buy MDMA at a low price and sell it at a higher price.

Amer eventually made contact with a drug supplier named Mohammed Salim Abdul Hamid Shaikh, who operates in Mumbai and nearby areas. Through Salim, he also became acquainted with another supplier, Rayees Riyaz Shaikh. Both suppliers helped him procure MDMA, which he sold to customers in Hyderabad.

Amer would purchase MDMA for Rs 3,000 per gram and sell it to drug users in Hyderabad for Rs 8,000 per gram, earning significant illegal profits. The police revealed that Salim and Rayees sourced the drugs from Nigerian nationals, Jimmy and Jerry, based in Delhi. These Nigerians supplied the drugs to Salim and Rayees, who took a commission for their role in the transactions.

A week ago, on December 18, Amer traveled to Mumbai and purchased 320 grams of MDMA from Salim and Rayees for Rs 6 lakh. He returned to Hyderabad via a private vehicle and planned to sell the drugs to his customers. However, acting on credible information, the Nampally police, with the help of the TGANB, intercepted and arrested him. They seized the MDMA he was carrying.

The authorities are continuing their investigation and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding suspects.
