Exploring new avenues, they are showing interest in cultivating various crops. Lakshettipet mandal, Timmapur village resident Chinnayya believed in different ideas and started cultivating one acre of Dragon Fruit. He researched cultivation methods by connecting with farmers on YouTube and invested approximately Rs. 8 lakhs. The crop was planted in October and began yielding good profits from the first harvest. He expects to earn profits of up to Rs. 12 lakhs in the upcoming year. By planting the crop once, he is earning more income day by day.
Suitable for less water cultivation
This crop can be cultivated with less water. It only requires one bucket of water per acre during the required irrigation for one acre of land.
Good income
Due to the high demand for this fruit in the market, farmers who cultivate this crop receive good income. Also, by irrigating the crop through drip irrigation from the first year, farmers are happy with the results.
Nutritional value
Dragon Fruit is also known as Pitaya or Strawberry Pear. It has many health benefits and is rich in fiber, protein, vitamins, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus. That’s why it is called a nutrition powerhouse. Hearticulture authorities are providing good incentives to farmers who cultivate such crops.
