Hyderabad: Dr. K Laxman, the national president of the BJP OBC Morcha and a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, sharply criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for what he called divisive and communal politics. Laxman accused Rahul Gandhi of sinking to new lows by focusing on how many Backward Classes (BCs) participated in Miss Universe competitions.

Speaking at the BJP’s Central District meeting about the party’s membership enrollment drive, Dr. Laxman said that Rahul Gandhi’s demand for a caste census is merely a pretension. He argued that Gandhi’s real intention is to divide society based on caste, religion, region, and language, thereby provoking the BC community.

Dr. Laxman further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves credit for providing reservations for SCs, STs, and BCs in Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370. He questioned why Congress failed to implement similar measures in the last 70 years and accused the party of encouraging separatism in J&K by forging ties with the National Conference party.

The BJP MP also criticized Rahul Gandhi for blaming the central government for the lack of BC representation at higher government levels, such as Principal Secretary and Joint Secretary. Laxman argued that had Congress properly implemented reservations during its tenure, BCs would have been promoted to these positions. He questioned why Congress consistently let down the BC community.

Laxman claimed that Congress and Rahul Gandhi are unable to accept a BC from a humble background becoming the Prime Minister for the third time. He also criticized Rahul Gandhi for making personal attacks on the Prime Minister’s clothing and food choices, claiming that Gandhi behaves as if the country is his private property and only the Nehru family should rule it.

Dr. Laxman praised Modi’s leadership, saying it has made the world take notice of India. However, he warned that some international institutions are conspiring to weaken both Modi and the country.

He pointed out that the Congress party, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, was defeated three times in a row in general elections. Laxman found it ironic that Congress is celebrating a 100-seat victory in such a scenario. He also noted that the National Conference party promised to restore Article 370 if it comes to power in J&K, a move that he said would promote separatism. Despite this, Congress has allied with the National Conference, which Laxman believes shows how low the party is willing to stoop for votes and power.

Dr. Laxman urged the OBC Morcha leadership to start a movement against Rahul Gandhi’s Congress party in Telangana, accusing it of betraying the BC community. He praised the Central government under PM Modi for making bold decisions for the welfare of BC students, including providing research opportunities in central educational institutions and jobs.

Laxman argued that Congress has a long history of ignoring the BC community, from blocking BC reservations to opposing educational opportunities for economically backward classes. He criticized the Congress-led state government in Telangana under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for failing to fulfill its promise of 42 per cent reservations for BCs in local body elections, as outlined in the Kamareddy declaration.

The BJP leader highlighted that the Narendra Modi government has taken significant steps to benefit BCs, including appointing 27 BCs as ministers in the central government and providing 27 per cent NEET PG reservation for BC candidates in government medical colleges.

Dr. Laxman concluded by stating that the OBC Morcha is the backbone of the BJP and played a vital role in the party’s victories in recent assembly and parliament elections. He urged party office bearers to actively participate in the BJP membership registration programme by visiting ten mandals in each district over ten days in Telangana state.
