BJP MP and OBC Morcha national president Dr. K Laxman criticized the Congress government’s caste census report in Telangana, calling it full of mistakes. Speaking to the media in Delhi on Wednesday, he said the report was incomplete, unscientific, and far from reality. He argued that if the Congress party and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy truly cared about social justice, they should have turned the issue into a law, implemented it properly, and fixed any errors.

Dr. Laxman also pointed out that the report reduced the percentage of Backward Classes (BCs), which he saw as a political move to suppress them. He accused Congress of using unconstitutional terms like “Hindu BCs” and “Muslim BCs,” showing their biased approach.

He noted that earlier reports, such as the Mandal Commission and the BRS Comprehensive Household Survey, found that BCs made up around 51-52% of the population. However, the new report claims the number has dropped to 46%, which he called a betrayal of BCs. He also questioned the accuracy of the report, highlighting that it shows a 12% Muslim population but only 2% Muslim BCs and OCs, which he believes is proof of data manipulation.

Dr. Laxman further explained that states have the right to implement BC reservations based on their conditions under the 342-A Act, but many are not doing so. In contrast, he praised Prime Minister Modi’s government for granting legal recognition to the BC Commission and showing respect for BCs. He also criticized Congress for giving minority status to universities like Jamia Millia and removing reservations for BCs, SCs, and STs in over 9,000 educational institutions across India.
