BJP MP Dr. K Laxman challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to deny that former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi opposed reservations for BCs. Laxman claimed that Nehru wrote to all state Chief Ministers opposing caste-based reservations for BCs, while Rajiv Gandhi opposed 27% reservations for BCs.

Laxman stated that the current political battle is between two ideologies: the BJP-led NDA, which he says works for the country with patriotism, and the Congress-led alliance, which he believes prioritizes family interests. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his transparent and efficient governance, contrasting it with the alleged corruption scandals during the UPA regime.

The BJP MP criticized the Congress for what he called appeasement politics towards Muslims and demanded an apology from CM Revanth Reddy for insulting Hindu sentiments. He also accused the Congress government of failing to fulfill its promises to the people, only providing “donkey eggs” instead of meaningful assistance such as ration cards and interest-free loans to women.

Laxman highlighted that during PM Modi’s tenure, reservations were expanded to include economically weaker sections (EWS) and groups previously denied in Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. He emphasized that no existing reservations were removed during Modi’s leadership.
