Hyderabad: During the monsoon season, mosquito-borne diseases are on the rise. Director of Public Health, Ravindra Naik, has urged citizens to help control mosquitoes. He attended awareness sessions at schools in Banjara Hills, where an art exhibition on the topic was held. Naik encouraged participants to keep their surroundings clean and observe every Friday as a Dry Day in their colonies.

These sessions were organized by the GHMC Entomology Department for students and households. The focus was on spreading awareness about diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, how to prevent them, and methods for mosquito control in areas like NBT Nagar and others.

At the Banjara Hills government high school exhibition, Naik emphasized keeping house surroundings clean to prevent mosquito breeding in stagnant water. He reiterated that every Friday should be a Dry Day to promote cleanliness.

After the exhibition, Naik visited the homes of dengue patients to check on their health and the treatment they were receiving. He reviewed daily fever case records and discussed them with the medical officer at NBT Nagar PHC. Naik assured that free treatment and medicines would be available at government hospitals under doctor supervision.

Chief Entomologist Dr. Rambabu and DM&HO Dr. Venkat explained the preventive measures being taken to control mosquito breeding and diseases like dengue.

In another development, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata warned malls and multiplexes against charging parking fees. She said that according to the rules, parking should be free if customers show purchase receipts. Special inspection teams found some malls violating this rule and selling low-quality food.

A theatre registered as a single screen was also found showing movies on multiple screens. Following these findings, notices were issued to the offending malls and multiplexes.
