Hyderabad is in for a special treat as the city is about to witness a rare phenomenon – two full moons in a month. This event, known as the Blue Moon, has captured the interest of many people. However, it’s important to note that the moon itself won’t actually be blue.

Typically, there is at least one full moon visible in the sky every month. But on rare occasions, about once every 2-3 years, two full moons appear in the same month. This second full moon is popularly referred to as the Blue Moon. However, it’s worth mentioning that the term Blue Moon is not officially recognized by the International Astronomical Union.

The first full moon was seen on August 2 at 12:02 am, and the second one will be visible on August 31 at 7:06 am. The last Blue Moon occurred in 2020 on October 31, and before that in 2012 (August) and 2015 (July). In 2018, there were two Blue Moons, one in January and another in March.

Many people have wondered if the Blue Moon will actually be blue in color. The answer is no. The term Blue Moon refers to the timing of the event and not the moon’s actual color. So, the moon will maintain its usual silvery hue.

Overall, this rare occurrence of two full moons in a month is a sight to behold, even though the moon won’t be blue.
