The DSP advised parents to be extra careful when allowing children to use mobile phones. He explained that even small mistakes could lead to cyberattacks, potentially exposing personal details and banking information to hackers.

One of the key warnings from DSP Girikumar was about receiving video calls from unknown numbers. He urged people to only accept video calls from trusted contacts. He also highlighted the risks of engaging with strangers who claim they’ve accidentally sent money or request financial assistance under false pretenses. Such situations should always be verified before taking any action.

Additionally, he cautioned against clicking on APK files shared in WhatsApp groups. These files could secretly install harmful software on devices, which might steal personal information in the background. This stolen data could then be used for blackmail or shared with others without consent.

DSP Girikumar underscored the importance of staying informed about new technology and using it responsibly. He encouraged everyone to remain vigilant to protect their privacy and security online.

If anyone suspects or encounters a cyberattack, the DSP urged them to report it immediately by calling the toll-free helpline number 1930.
