    Gadwal: Focus on Improving Palliative Care at District Hospital

    A review meeting was held today at 12 PM at the District Medical and Health Office in Gadwal. Dr. S.K. Siddappa, the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), emphasized the importance of increasing admissions for palliative care. The meeting also addressed various health services provided by the district hospital, such as elder care, mental health clinics, NCD clinics, cervical screening, and other related departments.

    During the meeting, hospital staff and doctors were briefed on the procedures for patient admissions and outpatient services. Dr. Siddappa highlighted the urgent need to gather detailed information about cancer patients in the district. He stressed the importance of ensuring that patients in need receive proper treatment. Additionally, he suggested that home care staff visit patients with low to medium-level conditions to provide treatment at their homes. For more severe cases, he recommended using ambulances to transfer patients to the district hospital for further care.

    Dr. Siddappa also pointed out the necessity of follow-up care for patients with hypertension and diabetes who are being treated at primary health centers across the district. He urged that these patients be provided with the required medications to manage their conditions. To monitor progress, he assured attendees that monthly review meetings would be conducted.

    The meeting was attended by Dr. Vamsi, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, and DPC Shyamsundar, who actively participated in the discussions and shared their inputs.
