    The district officials in Mahabubnagar took action against illegal sand transportation in Koilkonda Mandal on Monday. This action came after multiple complaints and news reports highlighted the issue.

    Officials seized illegal sand dumps in Acharyapur, Kothur, and Suraram. The estimated value of the seized sand is between ₹30–40 lakh.

    Praveen Kumar, a social activist from Nenu Saitham Diddi, expressed relief that his efforts had finally paid off. He had been actively fighting against illegal sand transportation and credited media support for pushing officials to act.

    He revealed that the sand mafia had been illegally transporting sand from streams in Lingalchedu, Suraram, Sheri Venkatapur, Acharyapur, and Kothur. He had submitted multiple complaints, along with evidence, to the district revenue, police, and mining departments.

    Social activists urged the district collector and SP to go beyond just seizing the sand. They demanded strict action against those involved and called for immediate legal cases to be filed. They also asked for strong measures to permanently stop illegal sand transport in Koilkonda Mandal.
