Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, calling him the great leader who helped India gain freedom and rights through non-violence and satyagraha.
The Collector honored Gandhi on his 155th birth anniversary. He placed flowers at Gandhi’s statue located at the Old Bus Stand. He also placed flowers at Lal Bahadur Shastri’s statue on Rajiv Marg on Wednesday.
In his speech, the Collector talked about how Mahatma Gandhi fought for India’s independence using peaceful methods. He praised Gandhi for working to end poverty and promote social equality. He said Gandhi’s life and ideas inspire everyone to follow the path of peace, truth, and love.
Later, the Collector also joined Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the District Collectorate and Zilla Parishad offices. There, he offered flowers to Gandhi’s portrait.
Other officials like RDO Ramachander, Zilla Parishad CEO Kanthamma, A.O. Veerabhadrappa, Tahsildar Mallikarjun, and district employees also attended the event.
