Ward Sabha Held in Wanaparthi to Review Welfare Schemes
A Ward Sabha was organized in the 14th ward of Wanaparthi Municipality as part of the second day of Gram Sabhas aimed at implementing government welfare programs. District Collector Adarsh Surabhi, local legislator Thudi Megha Reddy, and Additional Collector for Local Bodies Sanchit Gangwar attended the event as chief guests.
During the Sabha, District Collector Adarsh Surabhi explained that officials had reviewed applications for welfare schemes between January 16 and 20. A list of eligible beneficiaries was prepared, and these meetings, scheduled from January 21 to 24, were set up to allow the public to raise objections or suggest corrections.
The Collector emphasized that the purpose of these Sabhas is to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive the benefits. He mentioned that any necessary changes or additions to the list will be made based on public input during these sessions. The names of potential beneficiaries for schemes like Indiramma Manzanu, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa, Rythu Bharosa, and new ration cards are being read aloud by Panchayat Secretaries for public verification.
The Collector further assured that eligible individuals not currently on the list could reapply, and their cases would be reviewed. He highlighted that beneficiary selection is an ongoing process, and applications can also be submitted at the Public Administration Service Center in the mandal.
Government Committed to Transparent Implementation
Local legislator Thudi Megha Reddy reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing six guarantees in a non-partisan and transparent manner. He highlighted recent initiatives such as free bus travel for women and an increase in Arogyasri health insurance coverage from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh. Additional promises, including free electricity up to 200 units and gas cylinders at Rs. 500, are also being introduced. The government recently waived Rs. 2 lakh in agricultural loans for 23 lakh farmers.
The legislator announced that on January 26, the Chief Minister would launch four new welfare schemes: Indiramma Mananu, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa (offering Rs. 12,000 annually to landless laborers), Rythu Bharosa (increased to Rs. 12,000 annually), and the distribution of new ration cards. He assured the public that these programs are designed to benefit only the genuinely deserving.
Future Developments and Pending Promises
Thudi Megha Reddy also addressed concerns about pending promises, including increasing monthly pensions from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,000 and providing financial assistance of Rs. 2,500 to poor women. He assured that these initiatives would be implemented as soon as the state’s financial situation allows. Additionally, development projects in villages will be prioritized.
Highlighting local pride, the legislator announced that the state Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would visit the 14th ward to lay the foundation stone for the development of his former school. The project will receive Rs. 70 crore in funding.
Public Encouraged to Raise Objections
Additional Collector Sanchit Gangwar urged attendees to voice objections or concerns during the gram sabhas. He reiterated that these meetings aim to ensure welfare benefits are directed only to eligible individuals.
The program was attended by several key officials, including RDO Subrahmanyam, Municipal Commissioner Poornachandar, Municipal Chairman Puttapakala Mahesh, and other local representatives, along with residents of the ward.
