    Wanaparthy District:

    On Thursday, the District Welfare Department organized a special sports competition for disabled individuals at the Government Boys’ High School sports ground. This event was held to mark the upcoming World Day of Disabled Persons on December 3. The District Collector attended as the chief guest for the program.

    Various sports events, such as tricycle races, chase, carrom, and shot put, were organized as part of the competition. The District Collector officially flagged off the tricycle race, encouraging participation and enthusiasm among the athletes.

    While addressing the gathering, the Collector emphasized that everyone faces challenges at some point in their lives. He stated that perseverance and self-confidence are crucial, and disabled individuals should find inspiration in their own strength and determination to achieve their goals.

    The Collector also announced that the Welfare Department would continue to organize sports competitions for the disabled, modeled after the Paralympics. He added that prizes would be awarded to the winners and all participants during the World Disabled Day celebrations on December 3.

    The event saw active participation from various officials and community members, including District Welfare Department Officer Lakshmamma, District Youth Sports Officer Sudheer Reddy, Municipal Commissioner Poornachander, Tehsildar Ramesh Reddy, members of the District Disabled Association, and the athletes themselves.
