Wanaparthy District:
The Chief Minister of the state, Enumula Revanth Reddy, along with Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, held a video conference with District Collectors on Thursday. They discussed two key issues: the purchase of paddy and the appointment of teachers through the DSC (District Selection Committee).
During the meeting, the Chief Minister announced that farmers will be given an extra Rs. 500 per quintal for thin varieties of paddy. He also instructed that thin and large types of paddy should be purchased separately. Strict action will be taken against purchasing centers or mills that misuse the process, particularly those that engage in fraudulent practices. He emphasized the importance of taking steps to protect the grain from getting wet during the rains and urged officials to ensure the timely transportation of grain to the mills.
Additionally, the Chief Minister ordered that mills failing to provide 100% output should not be allocated any rice.
Regarding the recruitment of teachers, the Chief Minister ordered that the verification of DSC candidates’ documents should be completed within two days. The candidates’ documents will be handed over at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad on October 9th.
District Collector Adarsh Surabhi, who took part in the video conference, stated that over 300 purchase centers have been set up in the district. Each center will be assigned a specific identification number, and rice bags will be stamped with the buying center’s number and details about the paddy type. He also mentioned that weather forecasts will be shared with the relevant centers six hours in advance to prevent the grain from getting wet. The centers will be equipped with enough bags, tarpaulins, mobile paddy drying machines, and string separating machines.
A complaint center and control room will be established to address any issues from farmers. If a farmer claims that their paddy has been misclassified, agricultural officers will be ready with micrometers to resolve the issue immediately. The Collector shared that around 1,87,097 acres of paddy have been cultivated in the district, and it is expected that 3.89 lakh metric tons of thin variety rice and 1.4 lakh metric tons of other grades of rice will be harvested.
Regarding the DSC appointments, the Collector confirmed that the verification of candidates called in the ratio of 1:3 will be completed in two days. Teacher appointments will be made based on the number of vacancies in the district.
Several officials, including District SP R. Giridhar, Additional Collector Sanchit Gangwar, Agriculture Officer Govind Naik, and others, participated in the meeting.
