Gadwal:
District Additional Collector Narsinga Rao has called for the strict implementation of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India Campaign) to tackle drug abuse in the district.
During a review meeting held on Wednesday at the Collectorate’s conference hall, Rao stressed the importance of creating student clubs in schools and colleges to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. He suggested that students who are addicted to drugs should be identified, treated, and given counseling at rehabilitation centers. After treatment, these students should be reunited with their families.
Rao also emphasized that the campaign should be a shared responsibility, with active involvement from the community and the general public. He believes that the fight against drug abuse requires everyone’s participation.
Additionally, he instructed that shops selling products like pan and gutka should be located at least 100 meters away from schools and colleges to prevent easy access to these substances by students.
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including DWO Sudha Rani, DSP Satyanarayana, Health Department Program Officer Dr. Raju, Education Officer Esther Rani, DCPU Narasimha, CDPOs Sujatha, Venkateshwari, Nagarani, NMBA Volunteer Krishnayya, and representatives from various NGOs.
