Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar launched the distribution of Bathukamma sarees in Khammam. The sarees were distributed to women in the 22nd and 27th divisions of the city. A total of 4.27 lakh sarees will be distributed across the district to celebrate the Bathukamma festival. The distribution program was officially launched at St. Joseph’s School in Khammam district center.
The minister highlighted the progress and development of Telangana state since its formation. He praised the Bathukamma festival for becoming a symbol of the state’s self-esteem worldwide. A total of 1.02 crore sarees in 250 designs are being manufactured and distributed across the state at a cost of Rs354 crore. This initiative also provides employment opportunities to handloom workers through respective associations. From 2017 to 2022, around 5.81 crore sarees were provided in 250 attractive designs with zari and various color combinations.
The distribution event was attended by Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi, Mayor Punukollu Neeraja, ZP Chairman Lingala Kamal Raj, Suda Chairman Vijay Kumar, and others.
