Anugula Rakesh Reddy, the BRS candidate for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates constituency by-poll, is facing challenges as some top leaders within the party are not in favor of his candidacy. Despite their expressed dissatisfaction with Rakesh’s selection, the party leadership has stood by their decision to nominate him, causing tension among the party members.
These leaders believe that Rakesh, who only joined the party six months ago, is being given preferential treatment over more experienced party members who have been actively involved in important party activities. This decision to field Rakesh has been criticized as demoralizing, especially when the party has been accused of ignoring its longstanding members and statehood heroes.
Several prominent leaders, including former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MLCs Baswaraj Saraiah and Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, former MLAs Challa Dharma Reddy and Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, and others did not attend a recent Council election preparatory meeting organized by the party’s working president K T Rama Rao in Hyderabad. The absence of these leaders is seen as a sign of their discontent with Rakesh’s candidacy.
In the upcoming election for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates Constituency, there are a total of 52 candidates vying for the position. The Congress is supporting Chintapandu Naveen, while the BJP has renominated Gujjula Premender Reddy. The polling is scheduled for May 27, with the counting of votes set for June 5.
