In Wanaparthy, the municipal administration is facing challenges with no clear direction. Many officials are not attending their duties, leaving the municipality without proper leadership. The absence of a commissioner, an AE not showing up for work, and a DE working remotely from Hyderabad have created a sense of disarray.
Residents are concerned about the lack of accountability among officials. The chairman and vice-chairman are focused on retaining their positions rather than addressing the needs of the community. The municipal AE has been absent for a month, citing personal reasons, while the DE is unable to dedicate time to the municipality.
The recent transfer of local commissioner Vikramsimha Reddy has further complicated the situation. No one has taken his place, and officials seem hesitant to step up and fill the void. Despite considering five candidates, the new commissioner from Miryalaguda, Purnachander, has yet to assume his responsibilities.
As a result of this administrative turmoil, tax collection in Wanaparthy has been significantly affected. Only 30.02% of taxes have been collected as of January this year. Municipal councillors are expressing their dissatisfaction with the lack of governance in not only Wanaparthy but also in four other municipalities.
