During the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan left the field after getting hurt in his eye. The injury happened before the start of the 17th over when Kishan walked into Chris Jordan who was putting on his cap, causing Jordan’s elbow to hit Kishan’s left eye. Vishnu Vinod replaced Kishan as wicketkeeper for Mumbai Indians. The injury appeared serious as Kishan didn’t come out to open the innings with Rohit Sharma during the chase. Nehal Wadhera opened the innings for Mumbai Indians with his captain instead.

Gujarat Titans posted a massive total of 233/3 in 20 overs thanks to a blistering century from Shubman Gill, who scored 129 in just 60 balls. Gill first stitched 54 runs for the opening wicket with Wriddhiman Saha before sharing 138 runs for the second wicket with Sai Sudarshan. Towards the end, skipper Hardik Pandya made a quickfire 28 to prop up Gujarat Titans’ score. None of Mumbai Indians bowlers could deliver, with Piyush Chawla being the pick of the pack with figures of 1/45.
