Dhanurmasam Festivities Begin at Yadagirigutta Temple
The Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadagirigutta is all set to host the Dhanurmasam festivities starting Monday. These special celebrations will continue until January 14, bringing a spiritual and festive atmosphere to the temple.
As part of the Dhanurmasam celebrations, the Goda Devi Kalyanotsavam, a grand ceremonial wedding, will be conducted on January 13 by the temple priests. Preparations for the Tiruppavai and Margali festivities, which include the recitation of hymns traditionally sung by Goda Devi, have already been completed. A special team of priests has been assigned to sing the Pasurams (sacred verses) composed by Goda Devi during these festivities. Additionally, the Swati Nakshatra celebration, marking the deity’s birth star, will be held in grandeur on December 26.

Changes in Temple Timings During Festivities
To accommodate the Dhanurmasam rituals, changes have been made to the temple’s morning schedule, as announced by Executive Officer Bhaskar Rao. From Monday to January 14, the temple will open daily at 3:30 AM.
– From 3:30 to 4:00 AM, Suprabhatam (morning prayers) will be conducted.
– From 4:00 to 5:00 AM, Thiruvaaradhana and Bala Bhogam offerings will take place.
– From 5:00 to 5:45 AM, the Tiruppavai Seva will be performed, followed by Theertha Prasadam Goshti.
– From 5:45 to 6:45 AM, the Nijabishekam (sacred bath) will be conducted.
– From 6:45 to 7:15 AM, Sahasranama Archana (chanting of 1,000 names) will take place.
After these rituals, Sarva Darshanam (general viewing) for devotees will begin at 7:15 AM.

Tiruppavai Celebrations in the Northern Hall
The Tiruppavai programme will be held daily from 5:00 to 5:45 AM in the northern hall of the temple’s front mandapam (main hall). During this time, the idol of the Goddess will be placed in the hall, and the priests will recite the Pasurams composed by Goda Devi in praise of Sri Ranganatha Swamy.
The programme will also include narrations by the priests, explaining the significance and meaning of the hymns. Female devotees, offering mangalaharathi (auspicious light), will chant during these rituals, adding to the devotional atmosphere.

Two significant events will take place during the Dhanurmasam celebrations. The Goda Devi Kalyanam will be held at 7:00 PM on January 13, bringing the festivities to a peak. The Odi Biyyam ceremony, another important ritual, will be conducted at 11:30 AM on January 14, marking the conclusion of the celebrations.
