Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh has been arrested in connection with a money laundering case related to the now-repealed Delhi excise policy. This has caused a political battle, with the BJP alleging that the investigation will lead to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) reportedly found “incriminating documents” during a search at Singh’s residence. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra hinted that these documents could implicate someone in the top ranks of the AAP.
Patra expressed his views during a press conference, accusing the AAP of committing scams openly and doing politics after getting caught. He believes that the documents found at Singh’s house will incriminate someone high up in the AAP.
Former Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari also commented on the situation, expressing shock at individuals with alleged criminal backgrounds holding political positions. He believes that the ongoing probe will soon reach Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The Aam Aadmi Party has condemned Singh’s arrest as vendetta politics, claiming that he is being targeted for being a vocal member of the opposition INDIA bloc. AAP spokesperson Reena Gupta questioned whether the BJP is effectively running the ED and CBI, calling it a conspiracy against their party.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak believes that Singh’s arrest is due to the BJP’s difficulty in defeating Arvind Kejriwal. He expressed skepticism, as nothing substantial had been found despite numerous raids over the past 15 months. Pathak sees this arrest as an attempt to undermine the Aam Aadmi Party.
AAP leader Dilip Pandey suggested that Singh was arrested when the ED couldn’t find anything significant during their extensive search. He believes that the public will respond to the BJP’s actions in the upcoming elections.
