The Centre has agreed to hand over 3380 sq yrd of Defence land to complete the Mehdipatnam Skywalk project in Hyderabad. The State government received the approval for the latest design from the Centre. This will help ease pedestrian traffic in the area.
The Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, visited Delhi on January 5 and met with the Union Defence Minister. During the meeting, Revanth requested 0.21 hectares of Defence land for the completion of a skywalk at Rythu Bazar in Mehdipatnam. The skywalk construction was almost complete but was delayed due to the transfer of Defence land. After a positive response, the Chief Minister revised the plan according to the Defence Zone’s requirements.
The Centre has offered 3380 sq yds of land and has requested basic amenities worth Rs 15.15 crores for Defence. The land will be handed over within the next four weeks. This clears the roadblocks for the project, and pedestrians will be able to walk freely on the Mumbai Highway in a few months.
