Hyderabad: The BRS working president, K T Rama Rao, expressed his frustration over the white paper released by the Congress government. The white paper accused the BRS party of pushing the state into a debt trap. To counter this, KTR made a power point presentation to party workers and urged them to inform the public that the Congress was only presenting one side of the issue to defame the BRS party.

KTR criticized the government white paper, calling it full of lies, absurdities, and errors. He stated that the BRS government’s loans amounted to only Rs 3.17 lakh crore, while the white paper projected them at Rs 6.71 lakh crore. Additionally, the white paper conveniently ignored the fact that the previous government had created assets worth approximately Rs 50 lakh crore in the last nine years.

KTR also highlighted that the Congress had violated the 1956 ‘Gentleman Agreement’ by diverting revenue generated in Telangana to other areas, thus denying the rightful share to the state. This violation was one of the reasons why the agitation for a separate state began.

When Chief Minister KCR took office, the state faced financial challenges. They had to manage the distribution of employees and assets after bifurcation, and there was a 2,700-megawatt power deficit. The state also faced issues like fluorosis due to lack of clean drinking water, water scarcity, and inadequate medical facilities. The BRS government focused on improving farmers’ livelihoods, enhancing law and order, and addressing challenges in the irrigation sector.

KTR advised the current Congress regime to focus on their responsibilities instead of defaming the previous government. He pointed out that according to government figures, Rs 13,72,930 crore was spent in 10 years, indicating that the BRS government had spent ten times more than previous Congress governments in 65 years. KTR believed that the government’s aim was to tarnish the image of the BRS government for political gain and to discredit their projects in the eyes of investors.

He emphasized that Telangana was the only state in the country where every household had access to tap water and separate facilities for performing last rites for different religions. The BRS government had achieved significant progress, but the Congress government wanted to portray it negatively. KTR called on all BRS party members to fight against this tendency.
