Pagala Sampath Reddy, the chairman of Jangaon Zilla Parishad and BRS district president, passed away from a heart attack in Hanumakonda on Monday. He was taken to a private hospital after experiencing the heart attack at his home in Chaitanyapuri.
Sampath Reddy joined the BRS (formerly TRS) in 2004 and was involved in the bricks business. The MLA-elects of Jangaon district, Kadiyam Srihari and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, expressed their shock over his death. In fact, Sampath Reddy had attended Kadiyam Srihari’s press meeting in Station Ghanpur earlier that afternoon.
Despite losing all seats in the Assembly elections except for Station Ghanpur and Jangaon constituencies, the BRS owes its success to Sampath Reddy. This is the second loss for the BRS, as Mulugu ZP chairman Kusuma Jagadish also passed away from a heart attack on June 11. Sampath Reddy’s last rites will be held in his hometown of Rajavaram on Tuesday.
Former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Legislative Council deputy chairman Banda Prakash expressed their condolences on Sampath Reddy’s death.
