Hyderabad: The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the North Zone, Rashmi Perumal, has urged businesses to adopt stronger security measures. She emphasized the importance of hiring trained watchmen and enhancing surveillance systems to ensure safety.
On Friday, the DCP held a crucial meeting with representatives from gold merchants, textile businesses, and traders’ associations in the Mahankali division. The discussion focused on increasing security measures to protect both businesses and the public.
During the meeting, several key points were addressed. The DCP stressed the need for community participation in maintaining safety and awareness. Business owners were encouraged to install comprehensive CCTV systems both inside and outside their premises to deter criminal activities.
Given the rising cases of property offences and vehicle thefts, Rashmi Perumal assured traders of heightened police vigilance. She also urged business owners to report any suspicious behavior immediately. Additionally, they were advised to use high-quality locks and incorporate advanced security features in their establishments.
To further enhance security, the DCP promoted the ‘Know Your Worker’ campaign. This initiative involves verifying employees’ credentials and conducting background checks before hiring. Regular screening of workers was suggested as an added precaution to protect businesses.
The issue of drug abuse and its impact on the community was also discussed. The DCP called for increased awareness about the dangers of drugs and encouraged business owners and the public to report any drug-related activities to the authorities.
Online crimes and social media safety were highlighted as additional concerns. The DCP recommended conducting regular fire and electrical safety audits to prevent accidents. She also advised businesses to prominently display emergency contact numbers, including those for the local police station and the emergency helpline (dial 100).
The meeting concluded with a strong appeal for collective action. The DCP urged all stakeholders to work together to create a safer and more secure environment for businesses and residents in the Mahankali division.
