Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated that MPs from all parties have promised to stand united for the state on the Cauvery issue. He made this statement after a meeting of all party parliamentarians at Delhi’s Taj Hotel. Shivakumar said that all parliamentarians have pledged to raise their voices on the Cauvery issue during the Parliament session.

Shivakumar also mentioned that he and the Chief Minister met with Union Minister Prahlad Joshi to discuss the matter. Joshi has promised to explain the situation to Union Hydropower Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Shivakumar criticized the Cauvery Water Management Committee for not providing a proper formula for water allocation during periods of low rainfall. He argued against the release of 5,000 cusecs of water, calling it unscientific.

Shivakumar thanked MPs from various political parties for their support in standing up for the state’s soil and water conservation. He also commented on the Women’s Reservation Bill, calling it a historic decision and praising the Congress party for its efforts in promoting women’s rights.
