Hyderabad: The Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA) has shut down an illegal cough syrup manufacturing unit in Hyderabad. They also seized products worth Rs 65,000. The unit, called Akhil Life Sciences, was located in Prashant Nagar, IDA, Kukatpally. It was making the cough syrup without the necessary drug license.

The DCA teams raided the facility on Monday. During the raid, they found and seized 635 bottles of a 100 ml cough syrup called Glycoril. This syrup should have only been made after getting a proper drug license from the DCA.

In addition to the bottles, the officials also confiscated printed labels of the product. These were found with C Bhaskar Reddy, the owner of Akhil Life Sciences.
