    Gadwal: The District Collector, B.M. Santosh, has ordered officials to take steps to increase groundwater levels in the district.

    In Jogulamba Gadwal District, the Collector instructed officials to build structures that can capture rainwater to boost groundwater levels. He gave these orders during a meeting with the Jal Shakti Abhiyan Committee on Tuesday in the conference hall of the Collectorate.

    The Collector highlighted the need for rainwater to be absorbed into the ground, which would help farmers by improving groundwater levels. He suggested constructing structures in low-lying areas to gather and hold water. Officials were also asked to show the details of the work done over the past five years.

    The Collector mentioned that Amit Shukla, the Joint Director of the Central Rural Development Department, and his team would be visiting soon. He advised officials to review the ongoing projects on the ground.

    The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Additional Collector Nursing Rao, ZP CEO Kanthamma, Irrigation EE Srinivas Rao, Panchayat Raj EE Vijay Kumar, Agriculture Officer Govindu Naik, DPO Venkat Reddy, Education Department Officer Indira, and APD Srinivas.

    Additionally, the Collector suggested filling reservoirs, ponds, and tanks across the district with water from the Krishna river. This would help prevent droughts in the future and support agriculture by increasing groundwater levels.
