Dalit farmers in Budvel, Ranga Reddy district, protested with their families, urging the government to provide them with a fair share of land as compensation during a land pooling project. The protest involved 66 families of pattadars and 82 encroachers and lasted for an hour. The families argued that the amount of land the government has allocated is not enough to accommodate their extended families.

According to Korani Sadanand, the president of Telangana Rythu Sangham, Budvel, in 1973-74, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi allocated 4-5 acres of land to farmers in the village and provided them with patta passbooks and certificates. However, the land was later sold to others, and the pattas were cancelled. The farmers took the issue to court in 2008 and obtained a favorable order, which instructed the inclusion of their names in the revenue records.

Due to the passage of time and the expansion of their families, the assigned land of 800 sqyd per five acres is considered insufficient. Therefore, the farmers are requesting the government to provide them with 1000 sqyd per acre under the land pooling project in Budvel.
