The State government’s Mahalakshmi scheme has been causing problems for TSRTC conductors. Since the scheme started on December 9, conductors have been facing challenges due to the increased workload caused by the growing number of passengers using the free bus service for women. Conductors are struggling to handle the increased burden of issuing tickets and passes. Verifying the identity of passengers is also time-consuming, especially during peak hours. As a result, TSRTC has suspended the issuance of certain tickets and schemes, affecting journey times. Some passengers are also traveling without valid tickets, leading to ticketless travel and creating more challenges for the conductors. Harassment and conflicts between women passengers have also been observed on buses. Conductors are now required to issue zero tickets to all women passengers, which has significantly increased their workload. Additionally, verifying identification documents has become a time-consuming process, and some passengers argue and verbally abuse conductors when they are unable to issue zero tickets without proper ID.
