Cybercrime on the Rise in Hyderabad

Cybercrime happens when people use the internet to trick others and steal their money. This can include fake promises of easy earnings or pretending to be police officers to threaten and scare victims. In Hyderabad, cybercrime cases have increased by 24% this year.

One of the common scams is called “investment fraud.” In this scam, criminals make people believe they will earn a lot of money if they invest in fake opportunities. Another common trick is “digital arrest fraud,” where scammers act like police officers and threaten people with arrest unless they pay money. Unfortunately, many people, including workers, students, and retired individuals, have lost their savings to these scams.

For example, a doctor in Hyderabad was deceived by a fake money-making scheme and lost a significant amount of money. In another incident, a woman and her daughters were tricked into paying large sums of money when scammers pretended to be police officials. These criminals often use small pieces of information, like phone numbers, to target their victims.

To fight against these crimes, it’s important for everyone to stay cautious and protect their personal information online. On a positive note, the Hyderabad Police have been able to recover and return a lot of stolen money to victims this year. However, staying alert and informed is the best way to avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime.
