Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police are planning to install more CCTV cameras to improve traffic flow and enforce rules in the Cyberabad area. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), D Joel Davis, mentioned on Friday that new cameras will be placed in high-risk and high-congestion areas by next month. He spoke about this during a meeting on traffic management at the Police Commissionerate.
Davis outlined several steps taken by the Cyberabad police to manage traffic better. One of the main topics discussed was the expansion of CCTV coverage, with more cameras being added at key traffic junctions, places with illegal parking, and busy areas. He also talked about upcoming operations to catch drunk drivers and other unsafe driving practices.
The police have identified areas with a lot of illegal parking and are taking steps to fix this by putting up no-parking signs. Davis also shared that traffic is busiest on weekdays, while weekends, especially Sundays, see less congestion. Currently, road-widening and repair work is being done in accident-prone and busy areas to help reduce traffic issues.
During the meeting, important traffic violations like driving without a license, running red lights, illegal entry, and using mobile phones while driving were discussed. Special attention was given to heavy vehicles (DCMs), which are not allowed in certain places at specific times. Violations are being recorded, and action is being taken against those who break the rules. The police are also running a campaign focused on speeding, wearing helmets, and stopping underage driving. Repeat offenders could face tougher penalties, including the cancellation of their vehicle registration.
The meeting aimed to review current traffic enforcement efforts and find more ways to ensure the safety and smooth movement of vehicles in Cyberabad.
Several top police officials, including Medchal Traffic ADCP Veeranna, Madhapur ADCP Shivakumar, and other officers from various parts of Cyberabad, attended the meeting.
