As the Dasara holidays approach, the Cyberabad Police are urging citizens to take steps to secure their homes and valuables from potential theft. Many people plan to travel during this festive season, and the police have shared important safety tips to help keep homes and properties secure.

Authorities recommend that residents secure valuables such as gold, silver, jewelry, and cash by storing them in bank lockers or in safe places at home. Installing security alarms and motion sensors can also improve home security. Using a central locking system is highly encouraged for extra protection.

Residents are advised to notify their local police station if they are traveling, so the police can keep an eye on empty homes. It is important to report any suspicious individuals or activities by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 100.

For vehicle security, the police suggest parking vehicles within your premises and locking two-wheelers properly. Using wheel chains for additional security is recommended. The police also advise hiring only trusted watchmen and monitoring CCTV camera feeds through online access.

To make it look like someone is still home, the Cyberabad Police suggest leaving some lights on both inside and outside the house. Residents should also make sure garbage, newspapers, or milk packets do not pile up outside their homes, as this can signal that no one is there. Additionally, using curtains to hide the visibility of locks is also recommended.

Informing trusted neighbors about your travel plans and asking them to watch your property is another important step. The police also advise not leaving keys for cupboards and safes in obvious places but instead hiding them in secure spots.

People are also reminded to be careful when wearing gold jewelry during outings and to avoid posting details about their travel plans or absence on social media, as this could attract thieves.

Residents are encouraged to form voluntary safety committees within their communities to help with neighborhood vigilance and crime prevention.

For immediate help or to report suspicious activity, citizens can contact the Cyberabad Police Control Room at 9490617100 or via WhatsApp at 9490617444. As the festive season begins, the Cyberabad Police urge everyone to prioritize safety and enjoy a worry-free holiday.
