Over the past 25 days, the Cyberabad Police have successfully recovered 570 stolen and lost mobile phones. This operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Crimes, K. Narasimha, IPS, with the help of the CCS, IT Cell, and Social Media teams. The phones were recovered using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. The total value of the recovered phones is around ₹1.50 crore. On August 30, 2024, these phones were returned to their rightful owners at a special event held at the Cyberabad Commissionerate Main Conference Hall.
During the event, DCP Crimes K. Narasimha highlighted the achievements of the Cyberabad Police in recovering stolen phones. He mentioned that in the past eight months, they have recovered a total of 2,696 stolen phones. Of these, 1,200 phones were recovered in just the last three months, with 570 retrieved in the past 25 days alone. The DCP also provided a breakdown of the numbers, noting that different CCS teams contributed significantly to these recoveries.
The DCP emphasized the importance of mobile phones in our daily lives, explaining that they hold valuable information and memories. He pointed out that while thieves are relentless, the police must be equally determined in their efforts to recover stolen phones. He also noted that many people are unaware of how to prevent their stolen phones from being misused.
The DCP urged the public to report lost mobile phones either at their nearest police station or through the CEIR portal, which is available online across all states and union territories. He explained that using the CEIR portal not only helps in preventing the misuse of stolen phones but also speeds up their recovery.
One of the recipients of a recovered phone shared her story at the event. She lost her phone on a moving bus and thought she would never get it back. However, after reporting the loss at the nearest police station, the Cyberabad Police quickly recovered it and returned it to her. She expressed her gratitude for their exceptional work.
Another recipient shared a similar experience. He lost his phone while riding his bike and reported it at the Jagadgirigutta Police Station. The police assured him they would find his phone, and shortly after, they informed him that it had been recovered. He also expressed his thanks to the Cyberabad Police for their prompt and effective action.
DCP Narasimha also took the opportunity to commend the efforts of several officers and teams involved in the recovery operation. He praised the work of the CCRB, ACP Crimes Kalinga Rao, CCS ACP K. Shashank Reddy, and several CCS Inspectors and their teams for their outstanding contributions to the success of the operation.
