Cyberabad Police Busts ATM Fraud Gang

Based on a tip-off, the police arrested three suspects: Kariman Shani (33), Rupdev Sahani (34), and Saheeb Sahini (34). All three are laborers from Shamshabad, originally hailing from Bihar and Punjab. Their scheme targeted senior citizens and individuals who were less familiar with using ATMs.

The gang’s strategy involved collecting old ATM cards from various parts of the country. At ATM centers in Cyberabad and nearby areas, they would approach elderly or illiterate individuals, offering to “help” them during cash withdrawals. While distracting the victims, they would swap their ATM cards with old, inactive ones. Later, they would use the stolen cards to withdraw money.

ACP Shadnagar, N Ch Ranga Swamy, praised the swift action of the Cyberabad Police in apprehending the criminals. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify additional victims.

This case underscores the dedication of the Cyberabad Police to combat attention-diversion crimes and protect vulnerable citizens. The public is reminded to stay cautious and alert while using ATMs to avoid falling prey to such scams.
