The Congress Working Committee (CWC) claimed that the promise of a prosperous Telangana has been broken by the BJP government in Delhi and the BRS government in Hyderabad. They accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family of ruling like the Nizams and establishing “family rule”. The CWC appealed to the people of Telangana to vote for the Congress in the upcoming elections to revive the dream of a golden Telangana.

The Congress highlighted its role in the formation of Telangana and stated that the people of the state desired a prosperous Telangana with resources, water, and employment for all. However, they expressed disappointment that the promise of a golden Telangana remains unfulfilled and claimed that the resources meant for the people have been misused by those in power.

The Congress has launched a mass contact program against this “misrule” and former party chief Rahul Gandhi covered 405 km across eight districts as part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The CWC stated that tens of thousands of people shared their experiences of the BJP government in Delhi and the BRS government in Hyderabad, which they believe have favored a few at the expense of the poor, farmers, Dalits, tribals, and minorities.

They also mentioned the success of the Congress government in Karnataka, which they claim delivered on its promises within 100 days.

The party’s top brass held meetings to strategize for the upcoming assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The reconstituted CWC discussed these matters with state party chiefs, Congress Legislature Party leaders, and other party members.
