    Hyderabad, June 25 (Namaste Telangana): Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is gaining popularity among students. It has become a hotcake in polytechnics. The recent example of this is the Polycet counseling in the state. The Technical Education Department decided on Sunday to allocate the seats for the Polycet counseling. This year, out of 80,358 Polycet qualifiers, 21,367 have been allotted seats after choosing web options. Among them, a large number of students chose CSE, resulting in 90.38% seat occupancy.

    Out of the four colleges in the state, two are government colleges where 100% of seats have been filled. This year, the government reserved 10% of seats for tribal reservations. In the WES category, 580 seats have been allotted. The Technical Education Department Commissioner, Karunakar Reddy, announced that those who have obtained seats should pay the fee by July 29th. The academic year will commence from July 7th. Orientation classes will be conducted until the 14th and regular classes will start from the 15th.

    Government colleges in high demand

    This year, private colleges have witnessed a decrease in seat occupancy, while there has been a higher demand for government colleges. In the counseling, 87.44% of seats in government colleges have been filled, while only 60.46% of seats have been filled in private colleges. Out of the total 13,126 seats in government colleges, 11,624 have been filled in the first phase itself. In the first phase of counseling, seats above rank 8 have been left vacant. From July 1st, in the second phase of counseling, these seats will be filled.
