The CPM is likely to withdraw its candidate from the Bhongir Lok Sabha seat to support the Congress party, according to sources. The CPM leaders met with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to discuss a pre-poll alliance. During the meeting, the CPM delegation agreed to withdraw their candidate from Bhongir after discussing the matter with national leaders.
The CPM leaders expressed their support for the Congress candidates in all constituencies, especially in light of the party’s participation in a national-level coalition. Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had also visited the CPM State head office to discuss the alliance. In return for their support, Revanth Reddy offered one MLC seat and two Corporation posts to the CPM.
Revanth Reddy stated that the meeting focused on strengthening the alliance in Telangana and ensuring support for all 17 constituencies. He mentioned that the CPM leaders agreed to back the Congress to defeat the BJP at the Centre. CPM State secretary Veerabhadram confirmed their decision to support the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
