Suryapet: Telangana State Food Safety Task Force officials have discovered many health and safety issues in restaurants and bakeries across Suryapet district. These problems were found during surprise inspections carried out by the team.

The inspections were ordered by Telangana State Food Safety Commissioner RV Karnan. The task force, led by Zonal Assistant Food Controller V Jyothirmayi, included food inspectors Rohit Reddy, Shrshika, and P Swathi. They visited popular places like LS Bakery, Kaveri Grand Hotel, Tanus Logili Hotel, and Dolphin Bakery in Suryapet town.

During these visits, the team found several serious problems. They discovered unsanitary kitchens, improper refrigerator temperatures, and spoiled meat, fish, and eggs worth Rs 52,000. They also found dangerous products like artificially colored chicken, expired wheat flour, and unsafe ingredients. The team quickly destroyed the spoiled food and sent formal warnings to the establishment owners.

In bakeries, the inspectors found other concerning issues. They discovered unhygienic kitchens and noticed that oil was being reheated multiple times, which is dangerous for health. Expired color sprays and improperly labeled cake and bread packages, worth Rs 5,000, were seized and destroyed. The bakery owners were also given warnings for breaking food safety rules, and samples were taken for further testing.

Officials stressed that reheating cooking oil repeatedly can lead to serious health problems, including cancer. To protect public health, the team issued improvement notices and disposed of the used oil.

The Task Force warned all food businesses in the district to follow food safety rules strictly. They made it clear that any violations could lead to criminal charges, and if necessary, they would shut down businesses with the help of other departments.

Several other staff members from the department helped the task force in conducting these thorough inspections.
