The latest Lokpoll survey has sent ripples through the political landscape of Telangana, predicting a significant victory for the Congress party in the upcoming 2023 elections. According to the survey encompassing 119 seats, Congress is anticipated to secure a robust 69 to 72 seats, positioning itself as the frontrunner in the electoral race.
In contrast, the ruling Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is expected to face a formidable challenge, with projections ranging between 36 to 39 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is forecasted to secure 2 to 3 seats, while the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is likely to retain 5 to 6 seats, maintaining its political foothold.
According to the Lokpoll survey, Congress is expected to command a substantial share of the total vote, ranging between 43-46%, underscoring a surge in public support.
Contrastingly, the BRS is projected to secure approximately 38-41% of the vote share. The BJP may capture around 7-10% of the votes, while AIMIM is expected to secure 4-6% of the total vote share.
The survey findings indicate a shifting political dynamic, with Congress gaining momentum and positioning itself as a formidable force in comparison to the 2014 and 2018 elections. In 2014, BRS claimed 63 out of 119 constituency seats, while Congress secured 21, AIMIM captured 7, and BJP held 5 seats. The 2018 elections witnessed a significant increase for BRS, securing 88 seats, while Congress retained 19 seats, AIMIM maintained 7, and BJP secured just 1 seat.
As Telangana gears up for the impending elections, the Lokpoll predictions suggest a compelling narrative, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral contest with Congress emerging as a strong contender for victory.
