BRS Leader Harish Rao Criticizes Congress Government Over Farmer Suicides

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao has strongly criticized the Congress government, calling its rule a “sin and a curse” for farmers. He expressed his concerns over the increasing number of farmer suicides and accused the Congress-led government of failing to address their struggles.

Harish Rao raised the tragic case of a farmer’s death in Adilabad and blamed the government for ignoring the plight of farmers. “The farmer suicides are deeply disturbing. In just one year, 402 farmers have died, and the government bears responsibility for this crisis,” he said. He urged farmers not to resort to suicide and assured them that the BRS would stand by them in their fight for justice and fulfillment of promises made by Congress.

The BRS leader specifically mentioned the recent suicide of Rathod Gokul, a farmer in Adilabad, who reportedly took his life due to a heavy debt burden. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of turning a blind eye to such incidents. “While Revanth Reddy claims to have completed the loan waiver, farmers are still being harassed by banks. Why does the Chief Minister remain silent? These suicides are nothing less than government murders, and he must take responsibility,” said Harish Rao.

He further alleged that the Congress government had failed to ensure the safety and well-being of farmers. “Farmers are the backbone of our country, yet the Congress government is playing with their lives. During this one year of Congress rule, 402 farmers have died. It’s shameful that the government is ignoring this crisis while continuing its misgovernance.”

Harish Rao also criticized the authorities for suppressing farmers’ voices. He pointed out that in Adilabad’s Talamadugu area, farmers protesting their grievances were arrested, and restrictions were imposed under the Police Act. “Instead of solving their problems, the government is silencing them. Farmers are exhausted from running between collectorates, agricultural offices, and banks, hoping for loan waivers. When they fail to get relief, they see no other option but to end their lives,” he added.

The BRS leader concluded by contrasting the current situation with the governance of BRS chief KCR, claiming that agriculture was once profitable under his leadership but has now fallen into crisis under Congress rule.
