The Congress party in Telangana is preparing for restructuring and reconstituting committees as many leaders have joined the State government or have been promoted within the party. These committees will work on strategies set by the State and Central leadership to support the ruling Congress party in Telangana and emphasize its success in implementing various schemes.
As Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s term as PCC chief is ending, the party is looking to reorganize committees, including those of frontal organizations like NSUI, Youth Congress, SC Cell, and Mahila Congress. Vacancies within the party have been created by leaders who have become Ministers or MLAs in the government. The party is also appointing new leaders to head frontal organizations, pending approval from the AICC.
Committees were formed gradually over the past three years since Revanth Reddy took charge in 2021. Key committees, such as the Executive Committee, Political Affairs Committee, and District Congress Committees, were established towards the end of 2022. The party aims to give about 80% of posts to youth to align with AICC’s norms and reflect the preferences of the underprivileged voters who supported the party.
The focus of the new committees and frontal organizations will shift towards defending the State government’s success in implementing guarantees and important schemes, rather than solely strategizing against the ruling BRS party. This change is in response to the evolving political landscape of Telangana and the need to communicate the government’s achievements to the people effectively.
